What was the water composition in Noah's flood?

Was it salt water, fresh water or brackish? I was doing a little researching and wondered how sea life survived. If the entire world is fresh water, how did the salt water sea life survive? Did God do some tweaking so that this wasn't a problem? I'm just curious. Thanks!
