Seller offering me bike at trade-in value - instead of retail value (KBB)?

this is sketchy. It is true dealers do get crazy discounts. As a matter of fact i know a used car dealer that pays 30% the value of a car or bike at action and pes it on to me. But the question is, why would this person p the savings onto you? I would say there is something wrong. The trade-in value should be irrelevant to the seller, unless he realizes that its not worth that or he really doesn't want to deal with a "dealer".
