Protecting my bank account from unauthorised Direct Debiting?

If you only authorised a $10 amount once - that's all they can take legally and you'll usually find you'll have no problems. Secondly - yes you can request this of them to protect yourself and here is how:- contact them and obtain a suitable address or fax number for correspondence and advise them in writing that you do not give permission for any further debits to be deducted from your account. Take a copy of it and send it. Take your copy to your bank and advise them that you have contacted the isp company and give them a copy of your letter (it must be done in writing). This way you have protected yourself by advising the isp company in writing and your bank will not allow any debits once they know you have notified the isp company.
